Proverbs 2:6-8 gives another meaning as to who God is and what he does by saying “And here’s why: GOD gives out Wisdom free, is plainspoken in Knowledge and Understanding. He’s a rich mine of Common Sense for those who live well, a personal bodyguard to the candid and sincere. He keeps his eye on all who live honestly, and pays special attention to his loyally committed ones.”
• God gives us wisdom, for free!
• He is knowledgeable and understanding.
• He is our common sense.
• He is our bodyguard.
• He is keeping watch over us.
• He is paying attention to us.
God is keeping tabs on us. He is keeping up on those who are living honest lives. He is watching closely on those who are completely loyal and devoted to him. Loyalty is a word that keeps coming up on our prayer times. Loyalty and alignment. This verse screams those two words to me. If we are loyal to God and align ourselves up with Him, He can be all those things for us and can do anything for us. We in return have to be loyal to a loyal God. It makes sense to be committed to someone who is committed to you, but it’s something we all struggle with. God is all in. We have to be also. He isn’t going to leave us out to dry when we risk everything for Him. No, He says He is our protector and our shield. He wants the same us when no one is watching compared to when everyone is. He wants us athuentic and true. I know that is something each individual can work on, we are constantly shifting who we are. We must be on full pursuit of Him in order to receive everything He has in store for us. We must portray Christ-like characteristics. It can be hard. It’s an everyday battle between flesh and spirit. I can see Jesus standing in front of us. Our hands are held out in front and all He does is touches them. Our human flesh begins to fall to the ground and we are completely our spirit man. That’s what God is wanting to do. He is wanting to remove the war between our flesh and spirit, and allow us tocompletely be submerged in our spirit man. I can hear the words “You call me to deeper waters” and “We’re walking into deeper waters.” I keep hearing God say, “Come swim with me.” He wants to take us in deeper waters of praise and worship, deepest waters of prayer, deeper waters of relationship with Him, and deeper waters of who He is. There is more to God, and he wants to share that with us. We have to be loyal, honest, committed, and in alignment with Him for that to take place.
“Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes.” Isaiah 58:12
Your destiny or calling in life doesn’t have to be that of becoming a doctor, lawyer, teacher, or the titles we hear most common. There are people at work behind the scenes. In this chunk of text the Bible even says “some.” Some as in “Some of you will do this and some of you will do that.” Some as in we all have different paths. We all have different destinies. I think a lot of this scripture. “Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities.” You can be a world changer. Being a world changer doesn’t mean you have to go out into all parts of the world, your world is where you are. My world is a small town with one red light, but I want nothing more for it than success. Your task at hand could be to shift and shape your community, to give back to your community. There’s nothing wrong with having a purpose that doesn’t require you to make this huge jump and leave everything behind. Some of us have the opportunity to rebuild and restore right where we are!
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2
When we choose not to be copies of the world, but to reflect God and be Christlike, God is able to transform us. No one likes to relenquish control, but it’s not our job to take the wheel. If we give God the lead He is able to change everything. He is able to change the things we struggle with everyday such as: thoughts, actions, or words. In an instant He can shift everything going on in our life. We’re also able to grow perspective and have a better grasp on what God has planned for us. It’s not always easy, it’s an everyday battle to not let our human flesh take over. Fight through. See God’s plan for you.
Dad comes running in my room yesterday morning and says “Macey, Macey feel this!” I am instructed to rub his arm. I am entirely confused. He then proceeded to say “You feel that? That’s royal blood running through my veins.” I loved it. Ever since I’ve been seeing waves of solid purple. God has washed poverty and hopelessness off of us, and has drenched us in His royalty. We are His heirs. I am a child of the King. Our bloodline is from the most High God. So walk in that in this new week, royalty, and in the famous words of my mother “Have a great time with Jesus.”
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
1 Peter 2:9
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 God placed in us the spirit of bravery right from the beginning when He gave His life for us. He repeatedly displayed bravery throughout His life and because we are a part of Him we have that same bravery inside of us. We are unstoppable through Him. Nothing can defeat you.
“If we are out of our mind [just unstable fanatics as some critics say], it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for your benefit.”2 CORINTHIANS 5:13
I love this scripture. Our pastor showed this to us Sunday night saying, “I have found the verse for Worship Life.” It could not be more accurate. “Out of my mind for Jesus.” To do this right, to do Jesus justice, we have to not care what the world thinks. Let critics be critics. But I’m going to have fun and rejoice in the Lord. Whether I look like a crazy mad man or not. Go big or go home. The crazier the better. Jump, dance, shout, sing. He loves it all. I grew up not being so free to do things for the Lord. Raising my hand in church was hard enough. Speaking out in church made my insides grow on fire and I just couldn’t get the words out. I thank God for taking me out of that stage in my life. I can see how much I’ve grown and I only want to grow more. I never want to be afraid to speak or dance for God. He deserves everything I have to give him. My best advice if you’re a little shy or just not exactly sure on what to say or do. Is to push yourself. You have to jump right out of your comfort zone. It may feel odd at first or scary even, but that effort pleases God. By being faithful to God, He will be faithful to you. He will take you from your human flesh into your spiritual flesh, where you’re able to block out everything around you and be free. Just you and Him. Push push push. You’re entering in to a new level. God is giving you the “oxygen to breath in new levels,” we spoke these words out on our prayer tour and they’re so powerful. Never be afraid. You have nothing to fear.
“I will sing for joy in GOD, explode in praise from deep in my soul!” Isaiah 61:10-11
Be proud of God! Live a lifestyle of worship. You don’t have to be in a worship service to give him praise. Praise him in your morning commute. Praise him while singing in the shower. Praise him when you have your headphones on listening to music on your couch. Praise and worship is a lifestyle. Can people see it in you?
The Heart of Worship
“But that’s no life for you. You learned Christ! My assumption is that you have paid careful attention to him, been well instructed in the truth precisely as we have it in Jesus. Since, then, we do not have the excuse of ignorance, everything—and I do mean everything—connected with that old way of life has to go. It’s rotten through and through. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new way of life—a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.”Ephesians 4:20-24 MSG
The past version of you is to be left in the past. Holding on to it will only hold you back from your future. Cut off all chains from your past, release all your baggage. Your future is new. You’re walking into a new you. You’re opening new doors. Don’t try to open new doors with old keys, meaning don’t try to take on life with the same old habits. You have the opportunity to reinvent yourself everyday. My prayer is to be a better version of myself tomorrow than I was today. That’s all you can do, try and be better. Let go of your past. Remove it from your memory. Focus on what’s to come!
This following chunk of scripture is under the heading Zayin in the book of Psalms. Our generation is Generation Z. In Hebrew Z means Zayin. Zayin means warrior or mighty weapon. The words in this text describe our generation entirely, those whose hearts are on fire for God and on a mission to advance the kingdom.
“Remember your promise to me; it is my only hope. Your promise revives me; it comforts me in all my troubles. The proud hold me in utter contempt, but I do not turn away from your instructions. I meditate on your age-old regulations; O LORD, they comfort me. I become furious with the wicked, because they reject your instructions. Your decrees have been the theme of my songs wherever I have lived. I reflect at night on who you are, O LORD; therefore, I obey your instructions. This is how I spend my life: obeying your commandments.”
Psalms 119:49-56 NLT
We want so badly for people to feel God and have a connection with him. It drives us crazy! We want everyone to have a taste of what we are feeling. But that can also be our flaw. We must not grow furious with those whose sight is obstructed right now because of the world. It’s our job to keep showing them who God is, through ourselves. Keep pursuing the lost souls. Keep pursing your family and friends. God has already won the victory. “We are not fighting for victory we are fighting from victory.” Do not give up on people. Do not give up on yourself. Do not give on your situation. Generation Zayin is taking back the nation!
This is my prayer for today:
I give you my life Jesus. You are my God. My heart is yours. Take it all.
“I give you my life
I give you my trust
You are my God
You are enough
My heart is Yours
My heart is Yours
Take it all, take it all
My life in your hands
I lay down my life
I take up my cross
You are my God
Whatever the cost
Jesus, whoa Jesus
All to Jesus I surrender
All to You I freely give
Oh I will ever love and trust You
In Your presence I will live”
