Let my words be life Let my words be truth

Hawk Nelson- Words

“Rash language cuts and maims, but there is healing in the words of the wise.”

“Truth lasts; lies are here today, gone tomorrow.”‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭12:18-19‬ ‭‬‬

Proverbs 12:18-19 MSG
When a person is careless with their words reacting before thinking can be a result. The phrase “Think before you speak,” comes to mind. If you’re rash with your words, it’s the complete opposite of that phrase. Words are powerful. The book of James talks about your mouth being a rudder. One part of that scripture even says “Do good and bad water flow from the same spring?” The same mouth we use to speak highly of others is the same mouth we use when we choose tear them down. Proverbs is full of wisdom. Literally, the word wisdom is used on several occasions. The text says “Rash language cuts and maims.” Our words can cut into people. You can do much damage with the language that comes out of your mouth. BUT you can also bring healing. You can uplift and edify the body of Christ. When also speaking about our words and mouth, truth and lies are important. This scripture says “Truth lasts; lies are here today, gone tomorrow.” Lies are temporary, the affects are long term, but the truth always comes out. The truth last forever. Lies are so pointless from the get go, but in some form or fashion, we tell them everyday. Our words have meaning and truth. We shouldn’t abuse that by trying to altercate lies. Don’t waste time on a lie. The truth is as good as it gets. Be careful with your words, with what you say and how you say them.

Let me remind you that love will find you

You can’t outrun God’s love. It’s never ending and always there. You may turn your back on God, but he’ll never turn his back on you. His love for you is unconditional. You can never be unloveable you were loved before you were created. You were loved when you were the size of a peanut in your mother’s womb. You are loved now. Your future self is loved. Your whole being is loved. You are so loved that your father forgives you for every wrong. He will always have your back. He always accept your prayers. He always give you another chance. You could never mess up enough to push him away. You can’t turn him off or run from him. No matter how hard you try. No matter if you can’t seem to love yourself. He loves you. No matter what you’ve done. He loves you. “I’ve done too much.” “I’ll never be good enough.” “It’s too late.” All lies. God says you could never do anything to make him not love you. You are good enough. He gave his only son to die for you because you are good enough. It is never too late. Time and time again we find ourselves on our knees at the father’s feet. That’s because no matter how many times we mess up in our human flesh, he’s a forgiving father and he loves.

“This is the way GOD put it: “I’ve never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love! And so now I’ll start over with you and build you up again”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31:2-6‬ ‭MSG‬‬

“God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:5-6‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Out with the old, in with the new

“But that’s no life for you. You learned Christ! My assumption is that you have paid careful attention to him, been well instructed in the truth precisely as we have it in Jesus. Since, then, we do not have the excuse of ignorance, everything—and I do mean everything—connected with that old way of life has to go. It’s rotten through and through. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new way of life—a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.”‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:20-24‬ ‭MSG‬‬

The past version of you is to be left in the past. Holding on to it will only hold you back from your future. Cut off all chains from your past, release all your baggage. Your future is new. You’re walking into a new you. You’re opening new doors. Don’t try to open new doors with old keys, meaning don’t try to take on life with the same old habits. You have the opportunity to reinvent yourself everyday. My prayer is to be a better version of myself tomorrow than I was today. That’s all you can do, try and be better. Let go of your past. Remove it from your memory. Focus on what’s to come!

“If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God”

1 Corinthians 1:

“I, Paul, have been called and sent by Jesus, the Messiah, according to God’s plan, along with my friend Sosthenes. I send this letter to you in God’s church at Corinth, believers cleaned up by Jesus and set apart for a God-filled life. I include in my greeting all who call out to Jesus, wherever they live. He’s their Master as well as ours!

* Who are we? We are believers cleaned up by Jesus and set apart for a God-filled life.

May all the gifts and benefits that come from God our Father, and the Master, Jesus Christ, be yours. Every time I think of you—and I think of you often!—I thank God for your lives of free and open access to God, given by Jesus. There’s no end to what has happened in you—it’s beyond speech, beyond knowledge. The evidence of Christ has been clearly verified in your lives.

• May all the gifts and benefits that come from God our Father, and the Master, Jesus Christ, be yours.

• lives of free and open access to God, given by Jesus.

• The evidence of Christ has been clearly verified in your lives.

Just think—you don’t need a thing, you’ve got it all! All God’s gifts are right in front of you as you wait expectantly for our Master Jesus to arrive on the scene for the Finale. And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that.

* The moment you gave your life to Christ he’s been right beside you having your back. He will always be thee to pick you up when you stumble. You will never walk through life alone. He’s got you till the end of time.

I have a serious concern to bring up with you, my friends, using the authority of Jesus, our Master. I’ll put it as urgently as I can: You must get along with each other. You must learn to be considerate of one another, cultivating a life in common.

* We must learn how to get along with each other. We must lay our differences aside. We’re all in this journey called life together. Be there for each other. Life each other up. Be a friend. You never know what someone is going through. Don’t add to it.

While Jews clamor for miraculous demonstrations and Greeks go in for philosophical wisdom, we go right on proclaiming Christ, the Crucified. Jews treat this like an anti -miracle—and Greeks pass it off as absurd. But to us who are personally called by God himself—both Jews and Greeks—Christ is God’s ultimate miracle and wisdom all wrapped up in one. Human wisdom is so tinny, so impotent, next to the seeming absurdity of God. Human strength can’t begin to compete with God’s “weakness.”

Human strength can’t begin to compete with God’s “weakness.” I love that. Even if God had weaknesses our best strengths couldn’t compare. Nothing can come against our God.

Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.”” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:1-10, 22-31‬ ‭MSG‬‬

* God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”?

* You are somebody. Where society trues to overlook you, your Heavenly Father doesn’t. You are a prized possession to him. Keep working. He’s bringing out in you what he sees so everyone else can see it.

* “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.” Don’t “toot your own horn.” Don’t be boastful or prideful. Blow a trumpet for God. He is the reason for everything, everything you have, and everything you are.

Just another post about 2016

Waking up this morning it’s just now hitting me that 2016 ends in a few days. I may not be ready for this upcoming year, but in a way I feel like it’s the year I’ve been waiting for ever since I was a little girl counting up on my fingers to the year I graduate. There’s no slowing down time. So as I realize that I graduate high school in five short months I choose to be filled with “hope.” I powerful word that was spoken over me this past weekend. And why not be hopeful? There’s so many exciting things yet to come in life. I know looking back I might feel silly at how much I let the thought of life itself consume me, but I can’t help it. I love thinking about my future. Now college, not so much. I constantly have to remind myself or be reminded that everything does in fact work out according to God’s plan. As humans we try so hard to not waver from that. To know and to stand firm in that fact. I know for me it can be a bit hard sometimes. Looking back over the past year I feel as most people do. Not accomplished. I’m not where I want to be, but I will be. I’m choosing to be a better me this upcoming year. I’m choosing to put God first this year. I’m choosing to not let my mind and thoughts have power over me this year. I’m choosing to just “throw it up” as Mrs. Sykes would say. I’m choosing to let everything work out like God has planned. And I’m saying these things so that I can look back and hold my self to them. I’ve slacked, but God hasn’t on me. I’m forever thankful for the many things that He has done for me over my eighteen years. As for 2016 a few moments I’m most certainly thankful for and never want to forget are

The sleepovers where we really didn’t have the room but couch cushions made reasonable beds

Endless trips to Lin Garden because everyone loved the smell of it when I brought it to school

My very first trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras where I realized you really don’t want to step in the mysterious “Bourbon Juice” and that the penguins from Madagascar had it right all along “Smile and wave boys just smile and wave.”

I was blessed with my beautiful E, Eliana, who I really do need to clean.

My last cheer tryout in high school

I chopped my hair off (there’s no turning back after that last inch)

The scavenger hunt where our team kicked massive butt

I ran track…. never again

I was apart of Walker County Youth Leadership “Blue Team baby”

Kickball champs, as always.

 Upward Bound!!!!!

I ventured to Orange Beach for the very first time.

I met my life long friends and bridesmaids at Girls State

I had the time of my life at Identity Awaken camp because you can’t go or do anything with Worship Life and not have a a crazy incredible time.

I went to the Windy City!

I’m officially 18 and my opinion does matter now mom.

We won our last homecoming and it was one of the best nights of my life.

I took on Six Flags for the first time where I fell in love with rollercoasters.

I had my senior night and cheered my last high school football game, crazy.

I voted!!!!!

We took back County!

Not to end on a sappy note but I ended up with the boy I’ve been crushing on ever since I met him.

So if you made it through all those I’m proud of you. Maybe at first I didn’t feel accomplished about this past year as I began to write. But now I feel very happy. I’m still a kid or so I choose to be. 2016 was great. I still have room to grow, but who doesn’t. As for now I’m getting to enjoy life being young and this year I feel like I did just that. Not perfect, but it felt like it most times. I’m so thankful for my family. My friends. Everything. So here’s to 2017 the year that changes my life. I’ll finish high school, start college, and who knows what I may get myself into. As always Yolo. I challenge you, including myself, to yolo also. No like really. Do the things you normally wouldn’t, no not drugs. Maybe go for the 12 count nuggets or go parasailing. Same thing. Don’t hold anything in. Tell your crush how you feel because they could feel the exact same way. Tell your friends how much they mean to you because if you’re a senior like me, you may not see them again after this year. Honor your parents, I know mom I’m preaching to the choir. Show your pets lots of love, you’re their whole world. But most importantly be yourself. Truly. Don’t let the world define you. Figuring out who you are, who you want to be, is so exhilarating. Follow your crazy dreams, buy that pair of jeans, the eyeshadow palette you’ve been debating on, the pair of boots, or if you’re like me buy that dress you can’t sit down in if you would like all seams to remain in tacked. Beauty is pain. So happy 2016 and to be cheesy, not Eric McGinnis “Cheesy,” just corny… 2017 you are my year. Or actually be like Eric. If you don’t know who Eric or the infamous Cheesy is, be the guy who walks up the escalator on the side that’s going down. To finish and summarize 2016 as a whole *dab* (I’ll regret putting that in later) yolo.

Just Be Held

“Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held Just be held, just be held” Just Be Held- Casting Crowns

Sometimes it’s hard for us to take our own hands off of the situations we’re in and just give them to God. But that’s exactly what he wants us to do. “Be still, and know that I am God” Psalms 46:10. Here, the word “still” comes from a Hebrew word meaning to “let go” or “release.” The meaning would be best understood to say “cause yourself to become restrained or to let go.” In other words, we need to come to a place where we are willing to submit ourselves to God and acknowledging that He is in sovereign control. The Hebrew word translated “be still” to “take your hands off. “Surrender yourself to the Lord, and wait patiently for him.” Psalm 37:7. We must surrender to God. He has never stopped being God so why should treat him like he has. Allow  God to hold you in his arms telling you everything is going to be fine. He isn’t a human who is unreliable. He is God. He is faithful. He holds true to his promises. Psalms 145 verse 13 reminds us of that. “The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.” So whatever situation you are in, it make sound like you’ve heard it a million times, but just give it to God. You’re his child. Let him father you, hold you in your most desperate times. Never feel alone. You’re wrapped in the arms of someone who will never let you go. 🌻💗
